Flowers

Flowers deliver our sentiments to each other in ways that no other gift can. Flowers are living gifts, full of colour, exciting to our senses. Flowers express love, flowers express sorrow, flowers bring comfort and flowers bring joy. The joy of receiving flowers is only matched only by the joy of sending flowers. You can send flowers for birthdays, you can send flowers for anniversaries, you can send flowers at any time and you can send flowers for any reason.

When you send flowers online all your love and comfort travels with them, they are truly the messengers of our emotions. A single red rose will let you know that I am thinking of you and a dozen red roses will tell you that I am in love with you. A colourful bouquet of gerberas or tulips will help you to feel better soon, whereas a bouquet of highly scented lilies will arouse and inspire you. When it comes to giving flowers, it really doesn't matter if you pick a flower from your garden or if you buy flowers on line. The most important thing is that you make the effort to do it in the first place.

You can imagine all the excitement and gossip around the office as flowers delivered to your love make them blush on Valentine's Day. Flowers deliver so much more than anything else can.

The art of flower delivery is in the timing, you might chose to surprise your Valentine with roses a day or two earlier at the office, or you might prefer to have Valentine's Day roses delivered to your home on the day.

Florists

Florists are skilled at so much more than merely flower arranging. Florists understand people and occasions to determine exactly what is appropriate for a particular situation. A good florist will always deliver flowers that mean what you are trying to say.

It takes time for a florist to create a quality floral arrangement, time to select the best seasonal flowers, time consider how the flowers will work together. Florists know that every flower arrangement is truly unique, just as every single flower is unique. Florists know that every person is unique, just as every sentiment is unique.

flower care

Most flowers last at the very least three to seven days depending on the care they receive - you can help them stay fresh by following the hebe care instructions detailed below, making sure they get water and protecting them from elements such as heat.

Hebe flower care tips

For loose cut flowers
  • Fill the Hebe vase with fresh room temperature water and add Hebe flower food. The flower food in water will take the place of the flowers natural food supply. When using flower food, always use the correct amount for the container size and water volume. Hebe recommends 10g of flower food to one litre of water.
  • To avoid a build-up of bacteria, all leaves that will be below the waterline in the vase should be removed, so strip all leaves on the lower half of the flower stems. To do this simply snip them off with scissors or gently grip the lower half of the flower stem and run your hand down the stem, stripping the leaves as you go. Don't try this method for roses without protection, Ouch! To protect yourself from rose thorns use gloves and a hand towel or use a speciality plastic or metal rose stripper.
  • Cut at least 3cm off all stems on the diagonal with a sharp knife or very sharp scissors. Recutting the stem of a flower ensures the flower will eat and drink properly and therefore last as long as possible.
For all flowers
  • Check water levels daily and top up the water as needed; flowers can be very thirsty! For hebe arrangements, avoid allowing the floral foam to dry out as this is the source of water for the flowers.
  • Avoid direct sunlight or draughts which can shorten a blooms life. Also try and avoid heaters and air conditioners as flowers will lose moisture much faster when the air is dry.
  • Keep flowers away from fruit or vegetables that can emit ethylene gas causing them to wilt or die rapidly.
  • In a display of flowers, some of the flower heads will naturally die before others. It is a good idea to remove faded blooms as they occur, because if left on the stems, they not only look unsightly, but will often give off small amounts of ethylene gas, which will affect the life of any remaining flowers.
